You might recognize Alyson and Phil from their wedding photos that I posted recently. If you missed the post, you can see it here. I can’t say enough good things about these two! Long before we met in person, I knew their wedding would be one of a kind. Right off the bat, we really connected via email. When we met for coffee before the wedding, we had a lot to chat about –– Alyson was an English/Drama teacher and I used to be a high school English teacher (at Kalani High School and Maui High) and we both taught Shakespeare, etc. I also got to know them through Facebook and their wedding website, so I had a lot of anticipation for their wedding and Trash the Dress photos.
For their “Trash the Dress” session, we met at Makena (Big Beach) and started out taking photos by the trees, then made our way down to the beach for a beautiful sunset. These two barely needed any direction, as they were so natural and affectionate towards one another the entire time. This is the photographer’s dream; I hope all of my clients will feel this comfortable in front of the camera.
Towards the end of our photo shoot, they decided to go into the ocean a bit and roll around in the surf and sand – so much fun!!! It was such a pleasure to photograph the expressions of love and spontaneity; they were so alive and present in each moment.
Alyson and Phil, I’m so happy to know the two of you and to have had the chance to photograph your wedding and honeymoon! I hope you come back to Maui in the next year or two and we are able to meet up again. If I am ever visiting Toronto, I will be sure to give you a ring. Best wishes to you in your new life together!
