The wedding of Alyson and Phil was unique and wonderfully spirited. Alyson, an English/Drama teacher from Canada did her own wedding planning, and the wedding had all the excitement of good theatre. Their choice of backdrops — The Olowalu Plantation House was the perfect setting for their romantic exchange of vows. With guests from around the world as their audience, the bride and groom performed a moving song they had written to an ukulele accompaniment. Alyson, a stunning beauty, was quite elegant with her blue parasol, matched by her two bridesmaids dressed in blue with white parasols.
Originally from England, Phil met his bride-to-be while both of them were teaching in Japan. Phil told me that he was immediately taken by Alyson’s lovely smile. When Alyson began planning for her dream wedding, she got a lot of inspiration and ideas from the girls on theknot’s Hawaii forum.
Dan Sanchez did an excellent job on her hair, and Jessica Waite, as always did fabulous makeup. I was greatly impressed by the naturalistic flower arrangements and bouquet that Bella Grace designed just a few days after having a baby! Bev Gannon’s catering company — Celebrations Catering, dished up scrumptious seafood, under the open sky. The lantern lit buffet dinner was coordinated by Joan from Celebrations Catering.
As always I am most grateful for Kim Aihara for photographing the wedding with me.
Alyson and Phil, Congratulations on your wedding! We wish you great joy for years to come.
