A couple of weeks back, Lucianne & Ian flew from Seattle to Maui to tie the knot at the Maria Lanakila Church in Lahaina. We started off by taking photos at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, where Lucianne and the bridesmaids and the flower girl were getting ready in the bridal suite located on Kaanapali’s spectacular black rock cliff. I was really impressed with their lovely bouquets and flattering dresses. And I was especially struck by what a beautiful, ecstatic and shining bride Luci was – her excitement showed for the entire day! In the hotel lobby, the couple had their first glance – a very sweet and tender moment.
We headed over to the old stone church for the wedding ceremony and Catholic Mass, joined by about 60 close friends and family members. So much joy and heightened emotion flowed in that historic Hawaiian church that day. The ring bearer, Luci’s nephew, just 18 months old – had me imagining my son Kaimana as a ring bearer, since he is the same age.
Back at the Sheraton for cocktails and dinner, the chefs did an outstanding job! We later headed down to the beach for some gorgeous sunset photos.
During the reception, the bride’s sister, who was also Lucianne’s maid of honor, gave a speech on behalf of their family, warmly wecoming Ian into the family. Their happiness in having Ian become a part of the family was easy to see. Her sister also described Luci as someone with an infectious energy and a smile that lights up the room – what perfect words for her! The best man was Luci’s brother, and he also expressed his happiness for his close friend and now brother-in-law.
Luci and Ian – you two are such wonderful people. I’m so happy for the two of you! It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of your wedding!
Thank you, Kim, for all of your help.
