Maui Family Photography
I loved this sweet Kihei Maui Family Photography Session. As a Maui Family Photographer, I feel lucky to have such beautiful scenery and happy people enjoying their Maui vacation together. I like to capture a mix of canids, portraits and photos where viewers can feel a sense of place. The green lawn, palm trees and beautiful beach on this property made for naturally beautiful backdrops!
Stunning Westin Kaanapali Maui Wedding
Kaya and Clint had their dream day — a beautiful Westin Kaanapali Maui Wedding! It was a pleasure to be their photographer. The stunning couple was surrounded by family and friends and had a lovely wedding ceremony on the Westin’s lawn overlooking Kaanapali Beach. The resort grounds offer a nice variety for tropical Maui wedding photos including the oceanfront lawn, greenery, and beautiful waterfalls. They celebrated into the evening, enjoying a lovely dinner and dancing.
Stylish Four Seasons Wailea Maui Wedding
Joanna and Ed were such a fun couple who were married at the Four Seasons Wailea Maui. They had a great sense of style and had a beautiful setup created for their special day. Their son was adorable and I loved capturing this sweet family. Congratulations to the newlyweds! Here are some of my favorites from the day.
I was excited when Denise had contacted me about doing a lifestyle photoshoot for her family while they were visiting Lahaina Maui. Denise is a talented photographer and it’s always an honor to work with photographers. The family was celebrating her oldest daughter’s 21st birthday and they thought it would be nice to capture the occasion. The light and colors were radiant that evening. Check out some of my favorite photos from our session below. Enjoy!
Malia has been a great friend of mine since HighSchool so it has been such an honor to photographer her family photos over the years! Her children are adorable and I couldn’t be happier for her! We love going out to Hana and visiting with them and we really enjoy the beauty, peacefulness and abundant nature that Hana has to offer. I hope to make it out there again soon.
I absolutely loved photographing Thomas and Kandice’s wedding at her mother’s house in Upcountry Maui. It was pouring rain before the ceremony but everyone remained calm and it ended up clearing for the wedding and turning out to be the most beautiful afternoon. Kandice has been a great friend of mine since middle school so it was really special for me to capture her special day. I teared up a few times during the day as I could see how much love these two have for one another and for their daughter. Congratulations to this very lovely family! I am so happy for you and excited to see your future together.

I had a great time photographing this lovely family during their vacation on Maui! Morning sessions can be great as they provide a variety of colors and lighting. I love the lighting mixture of backlight, shade, and direct sun to provide both soft and dramatic photos. The blues of the water and sky were gorgeous and the children loved running around on the beach. It’s wonderful when families have so much fun on their portrait sessions and I feel like their relaxed mood really shines through in the photos. Enjoy some of my favorites.
This wedding was so unbelievably beautiful! I met Megan and Erik last year when I photographed their engagement session in Upcountry Maui. They were both so wonderful to work with and so appreciative and kind! Enjoy their story and photos below:
How the couple met “Erik and I met at Sutter, the large healthcare system we consult for in Sacramento. I was introduced to Erik on my first day of work and was immediately drawn to him. I wasn’t sure what it was that intrigued me but I wanted to find out. Whenever I saw him in the hallway, I got butterflies, which is pretty unusual for me. We worked a few weekend conversion events together and a wonderful friendship developed over the next several months. We looked forward to traveling to California to spend time together. Eventually, we confessed our feelings for one another and started dating soon after. I knew right away there was something very special about him and the connection we had. We took our first trip together to Hawaii and it’s also where I first thought “he could be the one.” Since then we’ve taken many more trips but there’s nothing like returning to Hawaii.”
The Proposal Story: “Erik and I discussed getting married so I knew he eventually wanted to propose but I thought it would be later this year. He always gave me a hard time about how he was planning an elaborate, public proposal on a stage of some sort (my nightmare)! So when he asked me to marry him along the Old Sacramento River Walk, where we had our first date, I could not have been more surprised or relieved. Afterward, we celebrated with a delicious 5 course dinner with wine pairings. It was a perfect evening.”
Approximately 90 guests traveled from the mainland to attend the couple’s special day!
The colors of the wedding were stunning shades of corals, pinks, oranges (grapefruit, peach). Bella bloom did their magic on the gorgeous centerpieces, wedding arch and bouquets.
The Dress! I loved it! Megan said “I’m wearing Devotion by Claire Pettibone:
http://www.clairepettibone.com/devotion Ivory floral embroidered mermaid silhouette with ivory linen and guipure vine straps.
It has a romantic, bohemian feel.”
How they envisioned their wedding: “I hope guests will describe it as relaxed, beautiful, stylish, fun, and delicious. As for the ceremony, we’re writing our own vows and are hoping to incorporate some traditional Hawaiian touches.”
What attracted them to my photography “Great reviews – people really enjoy working with Joanna and rave about their photos. I also loved what I saw in reviewing her blog and sites like “Style Me Pretty”.

Glenda and Smitcha’s Molokini Lookout Maui Wedding was stunning. The pair was such a joy to photograph! The couple was glowing the entire wedding day. They were elated to be spending the first day of the rest of their lives together and you can tell by their facial expressions in the images. They were joined by friends and family who helped celebrated in their festive Maui Wedding day.
The ceremony took place at Molokini Lookout in Wailea, Maui. There was a gorgeous variety of backdrops including the ocean, greenery and bouganvilla bushes which matched Glenda’s bridal bouquet beautifully. After the ceremony, we took a quick drive down to Poolenalena Beach for some portraits of the bride and groom. We lucked out with an extraordinary sunset which gave us a soft golden glow. The couple was glowing with happiness in the soft sunset light. Glenda was stunning in both her cathedral length veil and in her classy birdcage veil that she put on after the sunset.
Guests enjoyed a lovely dinner and wedding festivities at Gannon’s restaurant upper pond. We did some night-time portraits in the lobby and also documented their memorable moments of the evening such as their cake cutting and first dance.
Thank you Glenda and Smitcha for having me as your Maui Wedding photographer! It was such a pleasure photographing both your Maui engagement session on Thompson Road and your wedding day in Wailea!
