Natural beauty in a natural light
It’s beauty that captures your attention; personality which captures your heart.
With camera work that reveals both the elegance of the natural world and the richly expressive personal moments of the wedding ceremony and celebration, Joanna Tano’s photography captures both your attention and your heart.
With the combination of using natural light and utilizing creative lighting techniques, and with a keen sense of composition, Joanna honors the mood of each moment.
Her photojournalist and editorial style allows her to create evocative wedding galleries, in which a succession of spontaneous images tells the story of the wedding.
Careful not to intrude on the wedding ritual, Joanna becomes an almost invisible presence whose aperture opens to the heightened joy of the participants.
(During her own outdoor wedding, she learned the importance of a sensitive photographer who can attune to the needs of the bride.)
The elements of sea, sky and land renew and inspire her; As a photographer, she is especially drawn to the dramatic forms found at Makena Beach and in Iao Valley.
An elegant wedding, with a tranquil Pacific Ocean backdrop, was a natural choice for Jonathan and Krystal, who reside in the ocean town of Huntington Beach, California. Maui was also a natural choice for the couple, as Jonathan made his wedding proposal on one knee on a Maui beach, as part of a weeklong celebration of Krystal’s 30th birthday. The couple wanted a small intimate wedding and reception for their closest friends and families, so a Maui destination wedding was a “no-brainer” in Krystal’s words. The oceanfront setting of Olowalu Plantation offered a spectacular sunset. The meticulous preparations for the destination wedding were coordinated by Makena Weddings, with flowers by Dellables, hair and make-up by MeiLi, maid of honor gown by Maui clothing designer Show Me Your Mumu, and delectable dinner by Maui Catering Services. Overall, the joyous occasion was quite beautiful and romantic.
